VitaClay - Pro Goumet Rice N' Slow Cooker - Vita Clay Review

This is really the only option I know of that allow you to cook rice easily and safely, no nonstick BS. I have had this about 6 months and use it alot. Brown Rice comes out very well, def have to wash it 4 times at least, best to soak for awhile, sometimes I will let it soak from morn until eve, then cook it, let it stay on warm cycle. I also add a pinch of salt and olive oil. This can be used to make stews/soups.

Glass Collector Container Bottle - Waterwise 4000 Distiller Review

The glass container portion is marginal, it does what its supposed to do which is collecting the water from the distiller. However the lid or cover is badly designed engineered. It makes pouring the water clumsy and difficult. The spout on the glass container itself is also badly designed, which means that when you want to pour the water out into another glass contained, or a drinking glass the water stream coming out of the spout separates and causes spills on the table or counter. The most annoying item is the terribly designed plastic cover. Its difficult to take off and difficult to place under the distiller. The spout cover is the worst piece of designing I have ever seen, it barely stays on, it has no hinge, it falls off as its held by mere friction, which itself is ill fitting. I guess your consideration in buying this item is exactly proportional to how much you want to avoid HBP and other industrial chemicals leaching into your water when using a standard plastic collector.

Austin Air Healthmate Replacement Filter w/ Prefilter - Black Review

The filter is fine, but required some aggressive work with a hammer to make it fit my antique model.Compared to the previous replacement filter, this one had metal where the old one had fiberboard.I suppose this would be an upgrade, except that the designer apparently didn't consider the placement of some bolts on my 15 year old Healthmate; hence the need to put some serious dents into the filter.The previous replacement filter had the same problem, but the fiberboard had more give to it.It is my unscientific impression that the new filter is not as quiet out of the box as the previous replacement filter was (based on my 5 year old memory), but maybe it's just my machine getting older; or different room acoustics.Perhaps another owner can offer a second opinion.

First, I need to point out the not-so-obvious fact that this is the stainless steel version of the "Water Distiller, Countertop, White Enamel" product sold by MegaHome/NutriTeam.

To make a long story short, I got this product last night and this morning I woke up to perfectly tasting distilled water.

For the long story...I read all the reviews for the white color version and decided this was worth a try. I placed my order by noon Friday and received the distiller just last night (Tuesday). I was anxious to test this distiller for myself because it might save me quite a bit of money if I could stop buying bottled water. The only negative reviews I'd read seemed to focus on the plastic or metallic flavor of the distilled water. The manufacturer suggests it can happen when new bottles smell like plastic. As soon as I opened the box, I searched for the plastic bottle to smell it. There was no distinct plastic smell that I could detect. One of the reviewers pointed out that your geographical location affects the mineral content in the water and thus can strongly affect its flavor. Living north of Philadelphia, water has a fairly neutral flavor and there's no high mineral content that I know about. Still, I filled the bottle with water filtered through a regular Brita filter I have connected to my faucet. Filling the bottle to the very top is exactly the amount of water required to fill the distiller container right to the fill line. Followed the simple instructions and started the distiller. It wasn't as noisy as I expected, however it's loud enough that you might not want to run it during a dinner party. (Makes good white noise if you need it.) It's supposed to take 4-6 hrs to distil one gallon of water. Warm water may shorten the process. Since I ran it overnight, with cold water, I have no idea of how long it took. That will be an experiment for the weekend. Come morning, the distiller was done and the water was surprisingly fresh and good tasting.

For those concerned about whether distilled water draws minerals from your body, therefore raising acidity levels, read about the benefits of adding pH Drops before drinking. Cheers!

I use this distiller almost daily and I'm still very happy with my purchase and very glad I got it. Water tastes perfect, whether I pre-filtered it or not. I was surprised another reviewer had problems with leaks, since I've none whatsoever. The unit makes a very useful white noise, which is better for reading than for conversation though it doesn't bother me (I usually run the unit at night). I have not noticed much difference in distilling time, whether I use hot or cold water. I do get a lot of mineral deposits left over. However, I can remove them easily with a sponge or with the solvent that was provided.

Water Distiller, Countertop, White Enamel with Glass Collection Review

I've been using this distiller for almost a year, and it makes the best water I've ever tasted. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that I think there might be a way to make it more convenient; I think an older or frail person would have a tough time removing the upper cover (fan unit) after distilling (it's fairly heavy, and it makes a tight seal with the body of the distiller).

When I first started using this distiller, I thought there was a slightly acrid taste to the water, even with the carbon filter. Eventually I figured out what was wrong. I live in an area where the tap water has a very high mineral content. The body of the distiller is essentially an electric kettle that holds a gallon of water. It shuts off automatically when the water boils off. But the mineral gunk left over gets burned onto the bottom and the sides of the "kettle", and that's what was causing the slightly off taste. By setting a timer so that I remember to shut off the distiller before the last few ounces of water boil away, I've been able to improve the taste of the water, as well as make de-scaling the kettle a less frequent task. (Starting from cold tap water, it takes about 6 hours to distill a gallon of water, so I shut it off at about 5 1/2 hours.) Curiously, the little button on the front of the distiller body is only an "ON" button; to manually turn the distiller off, you have to pull the power plug.

Another slight drawback to this product is that the cooling fan is pretty loud. I run the distiller in a downstairs utility room, so it doesn't bother me at all, but you wouldn't want to be in the same room with it when it's running.

This is a refurbished unit.
There will be some noise from the boiling water in the tank and from the fans.
The water reservoir may not be BPA free (I don't know if it is or isn't).
There is a carbon filter included with this unit.
The water takes about 3-4 hours to be distilled.
The water tastes great. It took a lot of stuff out of the water. (in the water tank it leaves 8oz of water behind)
The carbon filter replacements are expenisive to get from aquavie.

I did want to say that for a refurbished unit it worked great I have no complaints. This unit exceeded what I was expecting its worked great. However buy this unit then look for waterwise 9000 for replacement carbon filters they are a lot cheaper and work just as well. And the water wise 9000 replacement water reservoir that is bpa free. And you have an even better unit at an awesome price!

Our water has some pretty intense chlorine--the filtration plant says it's 1ppm, which I suppose is average for city water supplies but it doesn't make for a pleasant drinking/showering/bathing experience.We've run whole house carbon filters for years but they wear out really quickly and we don't always get around to replacing them on time.I bought the bath ball for an 80 gallon bathtub that's used on a daily basis in the winter--it's sort of a stand-in for a hot tub and our family is super addicted to it!I really needed something to reduce the chlorine for our baths, but there are few options.The only problem with this product, aside from high cost, is that a lot of people complain it doesn't hang from their faucet without major jury-rigging.My faucet actually looks a lot like the one pictured, it slopes downward with a flange or flare at the bottom, so I figured it would work.I was right!I have to slow down the water flow a little when I'm filling the tub so that the water doesn't spill over the sides of the filter, but it's well worth it.It works like a charm to neutralize the chlorine.The manufacturer states that the filter will last for 26,000 gallons, but that depends on how much chlorine is actually in your water.Even if it turns out that I have to replace the filter several times a year, it's worth it to me for better water quality and healthier baths!Another bonus is that every component of the filter is recyclable.

Brita 35548 Classic Pitcher Review

This has worked great for me over the last several years, and I have become accustomed to the great-tasting water I get from the Brita pitcher (yes, you will be able to tell the difference!). I have begun drinking more water because it tastes better, and everyone would agree that is certainly a benefit worth my 4 stars... However, I have a (rather small) side-by-side fridge and with milk, juice, etc., etc., on the same shelf, this pitcher takes up too much room. I am currently shopping for another model of Brita filtration pitcher to replace it with a little narrower profile.

Crystal Quest White bath ball Water Filter (Most Advanced Bath Fiter On The Market) Review

I bought this product for my baby's bath water.I was dissappointed to have spent all that money and then see that this only works if you have a stopper on the top of your faucet like in the picture to hold it on there.Otherwise, it will keep falling off when the bath water is running.So I had to tie a string to the handle to help hold it in place but even then it keeps slipping off when the water is running.So usually I have to hold it while the bath water is running or keep checking to see if it's slipped off, so that was a big dissappointment.I do not have time to sit there as the bath water runs so I'm working on rigging something else up.The bath water does seem softer though.It also leaves some residue granules by the drain where the water is being filtered.I had intended on buying the shower filter as well but since I'm so dissapointed in this I don't know if it's worth spending more money.Hope this review helps.
